We were a partnership of older people and Camden organisations, working together to tackle social isolation and loneliness between 2015 -2022.
Being lonely or socially isolated is associated with a decline in physical health, mental health and wellbeing. In 2018, Age UK reported that a third of people are sometimes or often lonely. Older people are particularly likely to experience certain life events which create a risk for loneliness, such as retirement and bereavement. And because of the ageing population, the number of lonely older people - in Camden and nationally - is set to grow. We are immensely proud of the hard work of our partnership members and of the innovative, creative approaches we developed to address this issue.
Our Ageing Better programme ended on 31 March 2022 but the wealth of information on this website will ensure our learning and legacy live on.
